Podium for ideas and creativity
Loesje's Imagination is a podium for ideas and creativity for both the local community of Berlin and people from all over the world.
The podium is open for performances, arts, texts, photography, video, installations, poetry, music, debate, and in particular interactions and fusions between those.
It gives people space for their expression, and is a place where people and ideas can meet.
The podium is an experimental laboratory in which new forms, ideas, media and expressions are developed and exposed and where learning processes of both organizers and participants are encouraged. Loesje's Imagination is a place where people from different places meet, where new ideas are developed, where things that are not yet thought can be thought, where free expression can find a place.
The interaction between local, social, (inter) cultural and artistic themes and forms of expression is one of the main goals in developing the themes and content of Loesje's Imagination.
It crosses borders of artistic disciplines, paradigms, cultures, nations, gender, etc. and searches for new ways in which those crossovers can be expressed.
Questions around for example diversity, cultural identity, world views, ideals, ecology, public space, urban life, globalization, creative imagination, beliefs, sexuality, etc. find a way through creative expression and interaction. Loesje's Imagination aims for a fusion and surpass of social, psychological, ethical and artistic ideas and activities into new ideas and images of what life and society could be like. With 'podium' is not only meant the specific place or stage, but also ' creative laboratory'. It is a state of mind, a creative impulse, that can as much exist on a poster, a piece of art, an interaction, as in the actual place.
Goals
Creative imagination
One of the strongest powers we human beings are gifted with is the creative imagination.
It is the power to think the unthinkable, to create and reshape, to come to ideas and ideals, to criticize and change, to see not only what is, but also what could be.
It is about a sense for the possible. Loesje's Imagination combines this power of the creative imagination with a positive attitude towards life and society and creates forms and places where the creative imagination can develop freely.
Creative society
Loesje's Imagination gives input to ideas and realisation of the creative society. The idea of a creative society is based on the humanistic belief in the possibilities and capacities of people and aims for a society that is based on creativity, friendliness and interaction rather than on egoism, concurrence and conflict.
Loesje's Imagination explores the possibilities of new forms of creative expression and sets up new activities that support the idea of a creative society. It creates a free space for creative expression and supports and empowers people to express and develop their creativity. The creative society is not a purely artistic goal, the aim is to surpass the distinctions between personal, aesthetical, ethical and political goals into new visions of what life and society could be like. It is the implementation of the creative imagination into both daily life and society. Rather than to set up a new ideology, Loesje's Imagination will develop the imagination and realisation of possibilities, new ideas and 'small utopias'.
Vision
In art developments, there is much to do about the fluctuation between shocking, boarder crossing political art and aesthetical, personal art.
This distinction in essence is a fiction, because political themes always have an impact on daily life and personal themes always reflect in political and ethical questions.
Loesje's Imagination chooses to imagine and reflect on possibilities rather than to spread a negative attitude towards life or nowadays society.
Not to censor the mind with naïve positive thinking, but to support universal optimism in the human soul and give space to human possibilities. As Emma Goldman stated: "If I can't dance it's not my revolution", and so Loesje's Imagination says: let this world dance!

Loesje's Imagination has an open character and the content is dependent on different actions, expositions and interactions that take place.
Themes and content are related to ideas of a creative society, and carry out a humanistic approach of open mindedness, optimism, kindliness and engagement with the world.

Loesje's Imagination embodies a mix of political, social, psychological and artistic ideals, ideals that are connected to the idea of a creative society.
Loesje's Imagination takes its place in the world and engages itself with what is going on in peoples life's and society.
The realisation of this engagement should be explored in the projects that take place and have a practical outcome in how people look at their life and the world.
Social engagement only is also not enough: the project is aiming for a fusion of social and creative goals.
Public space
In nowadays society public space is mostly planned by governments or filled in by commercial messages and meanings.
Even cultural space is more and more dependent on and filled in by the commercial world.
Music industry, music stages, galleries, public art, architecture, billboards, podia, etc, all these platforms for cultural expression are more or less ruled and directed by either commercial or governmental organizations.
In the margin creative people try to find their own place by either cooperating with these organizations or creating their own space for expression, in the places left for them.
Loesje's Imagination is aiming to create a podium for free creative expression and exchange.
