In Loesje we believe in freedom of expression, creativity and a better world. Our main method is creative text writing which is always a result of collective expression of the group. It is a participatory art method where a collective of people share their thoughts and opinions on pieces of paper and suggest solutions with one-liners which end up on posters.
In the previous years Loesje groups have met other participatory art methods and rediscovered new ways of combining these with creative text writing. This training will be combined with Theater of the Oppressed, which is a participatory art method developed in Brasil, where social issues are expressed through theater.
We will spend a week working together and learn from each other. The idea is that each of us will present himself/herself and explain what form of the method he/she is using and what it means for him/her. Each participant will talk about one concrete project, situation, presenting advantages and disadvantages of the method used. After this, we will be asked to go away from our comfort zone and the method we are familiar with, and find a new combination of methods that could work in the given situation. We try to re-create a new mix of participatory art methods together and discuss what could work better. At the end of the training we will present a collective work of combining different methods that suit best in given occasions.
If you would like to participate and have the possibility to join the whole program period, send a short email with your background and motivation to join the project to martina@loesje.org
